Transient shadows cast,

A silent scream exhales from my lips,

Light cuts sharply on my shaded face,

From the streetlights.

I wrangle in the darkness,

Walking the streets,

Searching for myself,

Looking ahead,

Stumbling,

The gutter calls,

I won’t fall,

The shadows hold me up,

In hollow hope,

Supporting me on,

An ethereal thread,

Gossamer strands,

I cling, it’s dark,

But there is light as I look up,

Shimmering on ephemeral yarn,

Umbilical cord of life,

Anchoring to the material plane,

Transient shadows cast,

A silent scream circles my brain,

Light irradiates my shaded face,

I smile,

The streetlights smile back,

Kindling hope.
