We’re Creating Spaces and Relationships For Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

Art Cart pilot description: Who, What, When, Why

We at Painted Brain believe in reaching out to the community. There are needs for people from all walks of life to be exposed to the opportunities that art can provide. We believe in creating lasting community-based solutions to mental health challenges and addressing social injustice via art, advocacy, and enterprise. We have generated art cart with these factors in mind. To provide an accessible opportunity for everyone despite their living circumstances to partake in arts-based activities!

What we do is connect to those experiencing homelessness. Through

communication, connections are formed which allows a window to talk about the different difficulties we are facing as a population. Through the Art Cart, Painted Brain works toward including the homeless population by inviting individuals to make art, bond with others, and have a safe haven to take a recess from their everyday homeless life. We foster a relief; in that short amount of time, they are not homeless but instead contributors of the arts!

Why did we launch Art Cart? The reasoning was quite simple, to meet the needs of a community that is normally overlooked. Through weekly outreach and art sessions, we are of service to the community. Through our mobile service, we can reach more people who are interested to partake in what we offer. We believe in providing care at all levels from free food (snacks) to hygiene kits. Through self-care and health care we give those in need a tangible form of relief. A token of hope and opportunity to find solace and passion through art and community!

Formerly in MacArthur Park, we are now launching in Pan Pacific Park. This is located in Pan Pacific Parkin 7600 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036. We are there Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. We look forward to continuing having the Art Cart in the park and look forward to engaging with all those in the community including you! See you soon! Thank you!
