Summary

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will oversee the operations of clinical mental health services at an adult residential housing site; coordinate a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, medical personnel, paraprofessionals, case managers, to provide housing services and mental health services. This individual will also provide supervision for staff providing assessment, case management, counseling and system navigation to adults who have mental health challenges (consumers), have been to jail, and may have been victims of crime. This position will manage and perform professional clinical services in connection with treatment of consumers who are labeled as mentally ill and emotionally disturbed that have been to jail. LCSW may also be required to testify in court related to the mental health symptoms of the consumer and assess and comment upon their competency to stand trial. LCSW will comply with all ethical/legal mandates for reporting, provide psychotherapeutic methods in assessment, implement treatment plans in order to develop a corresponding progress reports for various mental disturbances related to trauma. The LCSW will ensure that all services related to the court order are delivered and must be able to connect the current situation to symptoms of mental illness.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct interviews with adult consumers to obtain information to complete a comprehensive assessment
  • Establish a treatment plan that is correlates with the clinical assessment, assist the consumer to resolve or cope with the mental, emotional and/or substance related problem
  • Document in accordance to the Department of Health Services and mental health courts guidelines (LA County Criminal Courts Diversion Database).
  • Coordinate all services to be performed in the therapeutic rehabilitation of consumers within the program.
  • Provide effective service delivery to consumers by providing individual counseling, group counseling and co-occurring counseling
  • Document effectively in accordance with best standards of on a weekly basis.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences to discuss, present or evaluate the nature and progress of presenting issues; attend other meetings, training sessions, seminars, as needed to effectively perform duties affiliated with this position.
  • Lead and participate in weekly supervision and treatment team meetings; assume other tasks as assigned and required for this position assigned by the Program Director; may be required to conduct interventions in the field.
  • Provide clinical documentation training to new staff and ongoing refresher courses to all staff as needed.
  • Provide all supervision and work with documentation on-site.
  • Provide clinical training for clinical programs as needed.
  • Discusses problem cases with clinical staff and makes suggestions/recommendations.
  • Collaborate with individual workers to promote staff development and identify solutions to problem cases.
  • Represent the Agency in a professional manner at all times.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Other duties as needed.

Secondary Functions Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and/ or Clinical Director. Conduct Painted Brain (PB) art groups and support PB community center, as assigned. Answer phones and route incoming calls; serve as back-up to other Case Managers and Group Leaders in his/her absence.

Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Licensed Clinical Social Work Registered;
  • A minimum of two years of clinical mental health experience with a recognized social service agency, clinic, hospital, or public health agency involved in the problems of mental, emotional adjustment, addiction treatment and counseling and the use of psychiatric consultation;
  • MUST be able to work On-Call in collaboration with Clinical Director and other LCSWs.
  • Experience working with individuals that have been incarcerated and/or serious mental illness;
  • Working knowledge of Evidence-Based practices and fidelity to the Model(s);
  • Experience with providing clinical services under Department of Mental Health contracts preferred;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database programs. Accurate and concise documentation. Neat and professional appearance;
  • Attention to detail and punctuality required. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time. Well organized, self-directed and good interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally; and
  • Ability to work with multi-ethnic populations and populations with mental illness. Ability to work in a flexible work environment; is willing and able to travel to other office sites; work evenings or weekend if necessary.

Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background Clearance. Valid Driver’ s License and auto insurance required. Reliable transportation is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision of Clinical Case Manager and MSW interns in collaboration with Program Director, as necessary.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions) There may be possible exposure to highly or moderately aggressive clients.

Physical Requirements Licensed Clinical Social Worker is required for at least 60 to 90 minutes sustained sitting, answering phone calls and receiving clients, and customary talking, walking.

Mental Requirements Licensed Clinical Social Worker must be able to accommodate distractions and interruptions due emergency situations, and exposure to inappropriate behavior and/or languages of others.
