We created a professional group for women called Mind Talks to have a safe space to talk about life and wellness. This opportunity was given to us by CAL MH.They granted 5K to create this once a month event.
The Mind Talks event series is a program that creates a safe space and opportunities for women to discuss, create, and unite through groups including poetry, painting, and drawing. Topics such as mental illness and suicide are often not discussed in the workplace due to stigma.
The goal of Mind Talks is to create a platform and a safe space for conversations about mental health, patriarchy and suicidality for contributors, community members, and local business professionals, to address the impact of isolation and depression, the reality of suicide, and the importance of getting involved and connected to others in the community as a source of personal resilience.
As pioneers and mental health activists, we believe that by engaging women from all walks of life, we can heal households and community.
As Susan Pinker from Ted Talk shared recently, close friendships and regular socialization are linked to a healthier mind, body, and soul.
Johann Hari also talks about the strong links between depression, anxiety, and lack of human connection in this video.
